Submit a Tip
Welcome to The Coatesville Police Department's Tip Page created to provide the public an easy method
for getting involved and reporting suspicious activity. We encourage anyone with information about any
illegal activity, unsolved cases, theft, vandalism, the sale and distribution of drugs, or information about
crimes being planned to submit a tip. Partnering with the community will help identify and mitigate any
unnecessary risks for accidental as well as intended events. Reporting and sharing suspicious activity is
one step in reducing those risks.
Remember, if you "See Something, Say Something". The "See Something, Say Something" program is a national public awareness campaign that encourages people to report suspicious activity to local law enforcement authorities, particularly in relation to potential threats of terrorism, by actively observing their surroundings and speaking up if they see something concerning; essentially, it means if you notice potentially dangerous behavior, report it to the authorities.
Processing Tips
When submitting a tip, you are not creating an official police report and no other follow-up is necessary on your part. Your personal information is not required and you may remain 100% anonymous. However it can be helpful if we need to contact you to clarify a question or resolve what you are reporting. If you wish to provide your information, you can include it in the description box. The Coatesville Police Department will review all tips and will determine the appropriate course of action to be taken. This system should not be used to report active criminal conduct that requires an immediate police response. If this is an emergency please call 911.
What is a Helpful Tip?
Not all ‘tips’ are helpful. To ensure that you are contributing useful information, be sure to include as much information as you can that answers the questions: Who, What, Where, when, and How you know. See examples of helpful tips below:
Not in-progress emergencies:
Not helpful: "I need help now!"
Helpful: "I’ have seen one of your 'wanted' suspects frequenting the ABC Store this week."
Suspicious activity:
Not Helpful: "I’m suspicious of my neighbor."
Helpful: "There have been a lot of strange cars and people at 1234 Anytown Street. Many people go in and come out of the house at all hours of the day and night and they are very noisy at night."
Submit a Tip
Please use the form below to submit your tip. Include as much detail as possible including dates, times, activity heard or witnessed, etc. Be as detailed as possible. Again, all tips are completely anonymous. Submitting a tip will not result in any type of police report and no further follow-up is required by you after you submit the tip unless you want contact. If so, include your contact information in the Description section of the form. Once we receive your submission, will take it from there.
NOTE: Complete as much of the form as you can. If a certain box or boxes are not applicable, skip it and place as much detail into the description as you can. Please make sure there is enough information for us to investigate this. If there is not sufficient information, we may not be able to follow through on the tip. If you have any photos or video that will help, you can attach them in the file section.
